GitOps is an operating model where the desired state of your infrastructure and applications is declared in Git, and an automated agent continuously reconciles the live environment to match. It brings version control, code review, and audit trails to operations, and replaces manual, push-based deployments with a pull-based, self-healing workflow.
In traditional CI/CD a pipeline pushes changes into your clusters, which means the pipeline needs cluster credentials and there’s no continuous guarantee the cluster matches your intent. With GitOps an in-cluster agent pulls the desired state from Git and reconciles continuously — so the cluster always converges to what’s declared, drift is corrected automatically, and rollbacks are a Git revert.
ArgoCD gives you a rich web UI and an application-centric model that’s great for visibility and multi-cluster control. Flux is lightweight, modular, and CLI/Git-first. Both are excellent CNCF projects — we help you choose based on your team’s workflow and existing tooling, then implement a production-grade setup.
Yes. Application manifests are the most common starting point, but GitOps extends to platform add-ons, cluster configuration, and — with controllers like Crossplane or Terraform integrations — cloud infrastructure itself. We design a layered model so apps, platform, and infra are all declarative.
Secrets are never stored in plaintext in Git. We use Sealed Secrets or the External Secrets Operator backed by AWS Secrets Manager or HashiCorp Vault, so the encrypted reference lives in Git and the real value is injected at reconcile time.
A focused pilot on one team or cluster typically lands in 2–4 weeks. A full rollout across many teams and environments is phased over a quarter or more, depending on the number of services and how much repo and pipeline restructuring is needed. We always start with an assessment and a roadmap.
